Our History

Practical Defense International has been incorporated since February of 2003. The corporation was created by three close friends to speculate and trade in high dollar Class III armaments for investment purposes.

In 2004, Marlin Gross purchased all outstanding stock and launched a new business plan. From that point on, the company specialized in sales to Law Enforcement agencies post 9/11. PDI began working with a variety of correctional facilities to modernize their arsenals, using 3rd party machining shops for fabrication and repair work.

In 2005, all work that had previously been outsourced was brought in-house. Practical Defense International began working as a DOD contractor. We hired trained machinists and purchased a variety of equipment to manufacture and repair weapons onsite. In 2007, we upgraded to computerized CNC milling machines and lathes. We also began taking on work from a variety of Licensed Weapon Dealers and manufacturers. We've assisted in the design and manufacture of several weapons platforms currently in use by the federal government, working to combat terrorism.

In 2008, we opened a civilian retail site and satellite office in Martinsburg, WV.

We currently have contracts with sixteen Law Enforcement agencies nationwide, and provide armorer services for their weapons. We also engage in buyback programs that help defray the costs involved with arming a modern police force with law enforcement supplies.

At Practical Defense International, we pride ourselves on catering to the consumer with refined tastes. Whether you need a collector's weapon, a vintage weapon, or a specially modified item, we can assist you. We specialize in high quality precision arms, and are waiting to meet your needs.
